As part of country risk analysis, VIGIL takes into account several official or recognised lists to identify jurisdictions presenting an increased risk in terms of AML/CFT, sanctions or tax transparency.
The main lists being considered are:
- high-risk jurisdictions subject to a FATF call to action; ;
- jurisdictions under enhanced GAFI supervision; ;
- third countries identified as high-risk by the European Union; ;
- the European list of non-cooperative tax jurisdictions ;
- the Global Terrorism Index
- the Basel AML Index
- The Corruption Perception Index
These lists are used to draw the user's attention when a country related to a business relationship, beneficial owner, counterparty, or transaction presents a particular level of risk.
Depending on the context, the user may decide to apply enhanced due diligence measures, request further information, or document the decision taken in the file.
